Fingerprint not working, Pin does not work to log in (tried too many times)

I opened my computer to find that I needed to enter my pin instead of use my fingerprint. I'm not sure why this happened, maybe my kids were trying to log in.  It then asked me to enter a phrase A1B2C3, this allowed me to enter my pin which I did. It appeared to be incorrect and it said my pin had been entered too many times. I am pretty sure that I entered the correct pin.

It then told me to restart the computer and try again. This has been an endless loop.

I checked the sign-in options where only fingerprint and pin appeared. There was no option to log in with my Microsoft password.

Anyone have any ideas?

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

    1. Please try restarting a few times then try again.
    2. Please try disconnecting from the Internet and try again.
    3. If that does not work, reboot in Safe Mode then try signing in.

    At the Login screen:

Hold down the shift key on your keyboard while clicking the Power button on the screen.

Continue to hold down the shift key while clicking Restart.

Continue to hold down the shift key until the Advanced Recovery Options menu appears.

    Click Troubleshoot

    Click Advanced options

    Click Startup Settings

    Click Restart

Press (4) to Enable Safe Mode

Wait while Windows 10 starts in safe mode.

    Please try to login again

    Hello

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your PIN. This can happen if the wrong PIN is entered too many times. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1.Reset your PIN: You can try resetting your PIN. To do this, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello PIN > I forgot my PIN and then follow the instructions.

2.Delete the NGC folder: Another method is to delete or rename the NGC folder, which will reset the PIN. Here’s how you can do it:

Open Windows File Explorer using the file folder icon on your taskbar.

Tick the box in File Explorer View tab to Show Hidden Files.

    Browse to C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc

Delete or rename this folder to reset the PIN.

You may need to first take ownership of the folder in Windows 11.

Once you delete or rename the folder it will recreate it so you can add a PIN normally in Windows Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options.

You may need to restart the PC first.

3.Use System Restore Point: If you have a system restore point created before this issue occurred, you can try restoring your system.
