How can I scan to Sharepoint Online using bar-coded separator sheets to direct the files properly

This method has been around for a very long time, but I need to craft a solution for a client. Here's the scenario:

Client receives hardcopy from client. These are regular clients (insurance firm), so the process will be repeated regularly.

Staff uses a 'cover sheet' containing identifiers (name, etc.) and bar code (QR) to 'direct' the file

Staff can batch these scans by simply stacking up the cover sheets and to-be-scanned material.

It's a bit old-school, but that's the desired effect. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Could be all MS, or MS + third party scanner app... etc.

    You could use QR Code for files in the classic experience.

    1.Go to the document library -> Click Return to classic SharePoint in the lower left corner.

    2.Select the file -> Click on the tiny phone icon -> This takes you to a page with a QR code generated for the document URL.
