Can not create Azure Maps Resource

I have signed up for a Pay as you Go Azure Subscription, and am trying to create an Azure Maps resource. No matter how I approach it, nothing happens. Process:

  1. Go to Create a Resource
  2. Search for "Azure Maps"
  3. For Azure Maps tile, click on "Create" dropdown, then choose "Azure Maps"

Or, if I try:

  1. Go to Create Resource
  2. Search for "Azure Maps"
  3. Click on Azure Maps tile
  4. Click on "Create"

No matter what, nothing happens - the create button becomes disabled, and that's it. Ultimately I am not redirected anywhere, nor is there any sort of pop-up or alert of a failure or issue; just, nothing happens. There are a bunch of CORS errors in the console that are thrown after click, but I can't decide if that has anything to do with anything (and probably it doesn't, but they are coming from the Azure portal). I'm using Chrome Incognito and have tested Chrome (not incognito), most up to date browser version in either case.

Is there a problem with my subscription, because I was under the impression that pay as you go would work to sign up for Azure Maps? Has anyone encountered this issue before, where they are unable to create a map resource (or any resource), with no indiciation as to why?

ANY guidance would be helpful. I am stuck, and of course I don't have a support plan. Thank you!

    Hello Larissa Taylor,

    Thanks for your question.

Pay as you go should work fine as documented here: https://zcusa.951200.xyz/en-us/azure/azure-maps/quick-demo-map-app

So I will be looking at an isolated machine/network issue and access.

    • Are you able to create any other type of resource? Try creating another resource to see if it is isolated to Maps.- Check your access. Are you a Global Admin, Owner or Contibutor? Less privileged roles should work but you need to confirm which role you have in the IAM section of your resources
    • Also check that the Microsoft.Maps provider is registered in your subscription: Choose your subscription. Under “Settings,” select “Resource providers.” Search for Microsoft.Maps and, if not registered, click “Register.”
    • While you’ve tried Incognito mode in Chrome, consider using a different browser  or machine/network to fully confirm as it may be due to adblockers or firewall

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you
