Regarding acquisition of Azure facial recognition API for research purposes

Hello,

I would like to know the detailed conditions for students to use the facial recognition API.

I am a university student in Japan and would like to obtain Azure's facial recognition API for use in my research. I sent an application from that email address, but I have not received any response. I have filled out all the required information on the form, including my account and subscription ID, but have not received a response. In order to use the API, I would like to know more detailed information about what is required when applying, and whether applications by individual students will be successful in the first place.

Could you please share the Application ID that you had received while submitting the form , so that I can look at our internal logs for the status?

If you are performing academic research or your company is engaged in independent testing of our facial recognition technology for public benefit like accuracy across demographic groups or fairness reporting, please do not use this form. Send your name, organizational affiliation, principal investigator, and a description of your academic research or testing scenarios to limacctr@microsoft.com.

If you have applied recently then we will review and respond to your application in approximately 10 business days.

Please add maccount@microsoft.com and csgate@microsoft.com to your Safe Senders list to ensure you receive all correspondence pertaining to your application. Depending on your organization's email server configuration, you may still need to check your junk/spam folder.

@navba-MSFT Thank you for your reply. Is the application ID something like an inquiry number? Or is it my Azure ID? I have not received an email like the one in the image, so I would appreciate it if you could give me more details. There has been no response since I applied.

@Kenshin Murakami Thanks for getting back. Face service access is limited based on eligibility and usage criteria in order to support our Responsible AI principles. Face service is only available to Microsoft managed customers and partners. Use the Face Recognition intake form to apply for access.

You had mentioned about submitting the application form. As soon as you applied for the Face recognition feature for your subscription, you should have got an email that looked like below, Also check the spam / junk folder to be sure:

@Kenshin Murakami Thanks for sharing the details over private message. I looked at the internal logs for this application request. I see that the request has been denied as this is an Unmanaged request.

Face service is only available to Microsoft managed customers and partners.

Managed customers work with Microsoft account teams. Please note, we aren't able to accept requests to become a managed customer at this time.
