SCCM : Use schedule update feature on Win11 24H2 image

Hi,

I’d like to use the "Schedule Updates" feature to integrate recent cumulative updates into an existing Operating System Upgrade package for my Windows 11 image (version 24H2).

Before proceeding, could you confirm if this operation is still supported and will work as expected?

    Yes, you can use the "Schedule Updates" feature to integrate recent cumulative updates into an existing Operating System Upgrade package for your Windows 11 image (version 24H2). This operation is supported, and the process for applying software updates is the same for both OS images and OS upgrade packages.

    Before proceeding, ensure that you have the necessary prerequisites, including a software updates infrastructure, successfully synchronized software updates, and downloaded updates to the content library on the site server.

    When you use the Schedule Updates feature, Configuration Manager will apply the selected software updates to the image and can redistribute the updated image to distribution points as needed.

    Thank you for your response.

    I’ve done a test where I applied two patches (November and December cumulative updates) to my Windows 11 24H2 OS upgrade image.

    After upgrading a Windows 10 test machine using this OS upgrade package, I observed the following behavior:

    On the migrated test machine, running the winver command shows that the OS build number remains unchanged, reflecting the version prior to applying the cumulative updates.

    However, when I extract the install.wim from sources of OS upgrade packages, mount it using DISM, and execute the command to check the build number, it reflects the updated build number.User's image

    Do you know the reason for this difference ? Which one is correct—DISM or Winver? Is this behavior normal?
