Outlook 365 account requires Microsoft Authenticator, but Auth. creates 8 digits when 365 asks for 6.

For weeks now, I have tried to get the authentication code out of Microsoft Authenticator to work so I can reconnect to an email (purchased through GoDaddy who hosts our domain) in Outlook 365. Here's the problem. The Outlook 365 account requires Microsoft Authenticator, but Authenticator creates an 8 digit code when Outlook 365 asks for a 6 digit code.

This has been maddening. Does anyone know a workaround?
