In-Place Upgrade is not the right solution because it is indicated to minimize administrative efforts.

OneDrive for Business is a kind of backup if you want but does not allow you to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

For In-Place Upgrade, the document says it keeps the applications, settings, and user data on the computer, but not the last 90 days on each device that been accessed.

For Windows Autopilot, although you cannot directly upgrade windows 10 to windows 11 using it, you can try re-image them and then do autopilot, or when the devices done autopilot, you can either allow Windows 11 upgrades on your update rings or create a specific feature update policy to upgrade endpoints to Windows 11.
