Hello,

I have a Hyper-V cluster upgraded to Server 2022 servers. Now I am having a problem, that I am not able to delete anything from one CSV volume. The other volumes are working normally.
When I try to delete file or folder, I receive an error 0x80070057 - An unexpected error is keeping you from deleting the...
In the same time, I can rename or copy the same file or folder. Also all my VMs are still running on the same CSV without errors.

What can I do? I already tried to change security settings on file, delete form PowerShell and Total commander,... Nothing.

Thank you,

Elvis

    Hello,

"I already tried to change security settings on file" - have you already tried changing the files' owner? You can also enable audit on those files - maybe information in the Event Viewer's event id 4656 and/or 4663 will shed some light on the problem.
More info on configuring auding here.

    Regards,
    Michael

    Hi @Elvis Guštin

If the file or folder name in CSV volume includes a reserved name you may not be able to delete the volume. To resolve this issue, first rename the volume or files and try deleting it.

You can try logging into each host which owns the particular CSV volume and deleted the files that are shared and then try deleting the CSV volume.

    Hi,

That is a well-known glitch. Unfortunately, there is no single fix for this problem; different measures help in different environments. You may try the following:

    • Remove the volume from Cluster Shared Storage (back to available storage) and re-add it back.
    • Make sure cluster core resources and cluster shared volume are on the same node that you are using to delete the files. You may try to migrate both to different cluster nodes and see if file operations work there.
    • Sometimes, the 0x80070057 error is caused by a background process currently running on CSV, so try waiting for some time to resolve the issue or, if applicable, restart the cluster.

I hope one of the recommendations helps.

    Hi,

Someone find the solution for this problem? I have a cluster with three nodes that were in Windows Server 2019 Datacenter and when upgraded to Server 2022 Datacenter now I cannot delete any file from C:\ClusterStorage volumes, i can rename, copy and even my virtual machines are working but cannot delete.

    Any solution?
