Hi Team,

We currently have active Azure Virtual Machines with the following configurations in UAE North Region:

  1. Some machines are neither in an availability set nor in an availability zone.
  2. Other machines are enabled with only an availability set, but not in an availability zone.

We want to migrate all these VMs to be zone-redundant since they are currently not zone-enabled. As part of this migration, we would like to convert the LRS (Locally Redundant Storage) disks of these VMs to ZRS (Zone-Redundant Storage) disks.

Could you please provide details on the costs associated with this conversion and how we get the estimation? Thank you!

    Hi Ram,

To see pricing for ZRS disks please navigate to Managed Disks pricing page. Scroll down, choose Redundancy: ZRS, Region: UAE North. Once you have those options set, you can scroll down and see the monthly price for each disk size.

If you are unsure of your current sizes you can see this by browsing to each VM in the Azure portal -- Disks blade.

Some machines are neither in an availability set nor in an availability zone.

Since these VMs are regional and not in availability set/zone then the conversion is easy.

Article below describes how to convert from LRS to ZRS:

Other machines are enabled with only an availability set, but not in an availability zone.

Are these availability sets classic or aligned?
