Hello,

i'm running a VM through the AI studio and the ML studio.

the general cost is about 0.2$ per hour. for some reason it got to almost 800$ in just few days (i see it from the usage details) but i don't understand why.

i don't have support plan so i only can write here at the community - how do i ask for details about the consumption so i will know why we got to 800$?

i would like to open a technical ticket, how do i do that? (or is there a way to see it without any support help)

    Hi Eliah Ninyo,
Thank you for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Q&A forum.
To investigate the unexpected cost increase, follow these steps to get more details about your virtual machine consumption.

You can monitor and analyze your usage in Azure by going to Azure Cost Management + Billing in the Azure portal. Under Cost Management, use Cost Analysis to break down your consumption by service and resources.

Sometimes, costs can accumulate from resources that are still running in the background, such as disks, public IPs, or additional AI services that may have been created.

Ensure there are no unused resources that can be turned off or deleted. Additionally, check that your VM size and the resources it uses, like storage or networking, are appropriate for your needs. Running a larger VM than necessary or using features like high-performance GPUs can significantly increase costs.

    Hi Eliah,

From your description and screenshots it appears you have compute cluster/similar resources in ML/AI Studio that are using E16v3 and E8v3 virtual machine instances. Depending on how you configured things you could potentially have many instances running at the same time, accruing costs rapidly.

You can look in AI Studio and ML Studio to see what compute resources you have created. For example, navigate to ML Studio, on left click Compute, and then on right check Compute instances, Compute clusters, Kubernetes clusters, etc. In AI Studio, on left click on Management Center, next on left click on Compute, and then check Compute instances tab on right.

Please create a new billing support request using my instructions below. There is no charge for billing support.

Use this link to start the process:

    https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_CostManagement/Menu/~/support/openedBy/AzurePortal

Fill out Summary, Problem type, Problem subtype, click Next. There will be a delay, then some recommended solutions will be shown. Do not click on any of the recommended options shown.

In the upper left corner, click Return to support request

azure support request Return to support request

Click Next to move to Additional details tab, fill out required information, email/phone, etc., click Next, review details and submit case. After submitting you should receive an automated email with a few minutes and a support engineer should contact you within 1 business day.

If you explain to them you created and/or left compute resources running by mistake, they might refund some of the charges.

Please click Accept Answer and upvote if the above was useful.

    Thanks.
