Hello

Our Microsoft Teams Channel Files are not working, affecting all users. The error message displayed is “There was a problem reaching this app.

This issue began after we changed the domain name of all SharePoint sites. Despite having Owner permissions and being able to access files directly through SharePoint, the problem persists across different computers, browsers, and both the Teams Client and Teams web.

Symptoms:

  • Error message: “There was a problem reaching this app.”
  • Users can access files stored in SharePoint via Teams, but not their own OneDrive files.
  • Accessing the OneDrive Tab results in an unspecified error.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken

  • Permissions Check: Verified that there are no permissions issues for the team groups.
  • Different Devices and Browsers: Tried accessing Teams from different computers, browsers, and both the Teams Client and Teams web.
  • Diagnostics: Ran diagnostics, confirming no permissions issues.

Observations

  • Uploading a file from “This Device” to a chat in Teams temporarily resolves the issue, allowing access to OneDrive files again. This suggests that this action re-links the user's OneDrive account to their Teams account.

Is there a way to automate the re-linking of OneDrive accounts to Teams accounts for all users to resolve this issue consistently?

Additional Information

• The issue is inconsistent, working for some users but not others.

• Some users who had the issue resolved temporarily experience it again later.

Next Steps

Any guidance on automating the re-linking process or other potential solutions would be greatly appreciated.

According to our research, the methods you found is the workaround suggested by Microsoft according to this support article: Change your SharePoint domain name - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn. And I’m afraid and sorry to say there’s no automate methods for all users.
