Issue with subscription when creating a virtual machine

Hello everyone, I am a student and we have a 200$ credit to do some exercises. I tried to create a virtual machine as I wanna deploy Windows 11 as a project and it didn't work out because of the subscription type I selected.

I have an error message saying: This virtual machine requires a subscription without any spending limit or temporary payment method set.

Use a different subscription or update your subscription.

So am wondering, what could I do to be able to do my project?

Thanks for your help

    Hi Antoine,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

As I understood, when you are trying to create virtual machine, you are getting error to use different subscription without spending limit or remove spending limit. This is because the subscription used is benefit subscription( free trial subscription) where we have a fixed limit of credit of 200$ and exhausting it will stop the resource by default or you will be prompted to upgrade to Pay-as-you-go. Using certain VM image will exhaust this limit even just with deployment due to the cost and this can stop the VM leading to disruption on service.

So, in order to proceed with same subscription, please follow the steps shared in the document section to remove the spending limit: https://zcusa.951200.xyz/en-us/azure/cost-management-billing/manage/spending-limit#remove-the-spending-limit-in-azure-portal

Please also read through the same document section to understand why we need to remove the spending limit: https://zcusa.951200.xyz/en-us/azure/cost-management-billing/manage/spending-limit#why-you-might-want-to-remove-the-spending-limit
