When will authenticator apps be available as an MFA option in Entra External ID?

Question

I would like to start implementing Microsoft Entra External ID for my organization. The only blocker right now is that when I enable MFA for external users, the only options that the user can setup are Text and Email.

We would like to recommend that our users utilize an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, but it doesn't seem like that is available yet. Azure AD B2C had this feature, when will this be available in Entra External ID?

Yes, you are correct. Currently, Entra External ID supports two MFA options: SMS and Email.

This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

As of now, we cannot share any information on the availability of this feature.
