    Hi @Aditi Sharma,

Yes, you can use the Microsoft Monitoring Agent (MMA) with System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) for Azure VMs that are already running. The MMA can be configured to monitor virtual machines and send data to SCOM servers. Additionally, it can send data to an Azure Log Analytics workspace

However, it's important to note that Microsoft is planning to retire the Log Analytics agent (MMA) on August 31, 2024. After this date, it is recommended to migrate to the Azure Monitor Agent (AMA) for continued support and functionality

Will SCOM agent be supported when Log Analytics agent go out of support?

Yes, the lifecycle of SCOM agent is dependent on the lifecycle of SCOM software. The agent is supported as defined in Microsoft lifecycle policy. Refer to System Center 2022 Operations Manager and System Center 2019 Operations Manager to view the Support end dates.

    Hi,

Microsoft Monitoring Agent (MMA) is not deprecated. In fact this is the agent that should be used when monitoring VMs/servers via Azure Monitor. As you mention SCOM that one has separate agent called Operations Manager agent. Unintentionally the service of that agent when viewed on Windows is called Microsoft Monitoring agent which could be confusing. Overall Operations Manager agent comes with SCOM and it supported along with the SCOM management server. So as long as your SCOM management server version is supported your Operations Manager agents are also supported.
