Hi.

I switched from Windows to MacOS recently and I discovered a big limitation with using Excel for Mac when trying to retrieve data from SQL server hosted on our premises. Apparently, there is no way to authenticate using Windows account, only Basic (username/password) or Organisational account. Both not working for us. I can get the data using "From SQL server ODBC) using NTLM authentication. But since all of my Excel's were created on Windows using PowerQuery and also other collegues are using that type of connection, it is impossible for me to use Excel as intended.

Currently, I'm using Excel for Mac 16.92 (latest version in Beta channel).

I'd like to understand, if there will be option for Excel for Mac to use Windows account authentication for PowerQuery someday or not? Is there any alternative already in place?

Thank you in advance.

The excel for Mac uses Kerberos instead of NTLM (which is discouraged For windows). If your mac is not part of the domain and using windows login, then you use the “ticket viewer” app to login. The login should be like youname@domainname.com (it really the realm, so you need .com or .net)

once you login with ticket viewer, you just trusted connection string just like windows.
