Hello

Please i need your help on this issue.

I am having an issue with adding a user in our organizations Office 365 business standard account. The user name todd@aspiresZZZZZ was the account admin. I recently switched account admin to adam@technologiesZZZZZ.

Afterwards I discovered Adam was sharing the same outlook email as Todd.

Furthermore, I did not see Todd user sign in info in the admin organization screen.

When I try to add user I get a message that states "The user name is already being used by an active user (ADMIN (adam@technologiesZZZZZ)). Please use a different user name."

I'm presently unable to retrieve email from todd@aspiresZZZZZ please help me resolve this issue.

    Hi @IniobongNkanga-8038

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

According to your description, you have switched account administrators in Office 365 and are currently unable to retrieve emails from todd@aspiresZZZZZ. To more accurately identify the cause, can you provide the following information:

    1. If you try to add other users, do you receive the same error?
    2. Can you see the todd@aspiresZZZZZ user in the Active Users page in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and check the user settings.
    3. Select Mail flow > Rules to see if a rule is set to redirect todd@aspiresZZZZZ's emails.
    4. Are your administrator permissions the same?

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. If the answer is helpful, please click "Accept Answer" because it can help other members of the Microsoft Q&A community who have encountered similar problems and are looking for solutions. Thank you.

    Best,

    Jeanne
