How to fix Organization policies blocking access to network resources.

We are currently facing an urgent issue with our network access. When attempting to access resources on our company network, we are met with a login screen. Our usual login credentials, which work for our computers, are no longer effective. The network folder we are trying to access is not on a device connected to a Domain Controller; our AD is through the cloud. The computer hosting the folder is a standard Windows 10 Pro machine with no network settings modifications.

It's a bit of a puzzle, as only certain people in the office can access it while everyone else is getting locked out. I've already tried changing the GPO and Registry Keys to allow insecure guest authorization, but to no avail. Right now, I'm considering that something is wrong with Windows Hello, and we need to either turn it off or change the PINs.

Any immediate assistance or ideas that could help us resolve this issue are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hello Trevor Gardner,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot:

    1. Ensure that the shared folder permissions and NTFS permissions are correctly set for the users who need access.
    2. Make sure that network discovery and file sharing are enabled on the Windows 10 Pro machine hosting the folder. You can check this in the Network and Sharing Center.
    3. Clear any saved credentials in the Credential Manager on the computers that are having trouble accessing the folder. Sometimes, old or incorrect credentials can cause access issues.
    4. If you suspect Windows Hello might be causing the issue, you can try disabling it temporarily to see if it resolves the problem. Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and turn off Windows Hello.
    5. Ensure that the firewall settings on the Windows 10 Pro machine are not blocking file sharing. You might need to create an exception for file and printer sharing.
    6. Verify that the necessary SMB protocols are enabled on the Windows 10 Pro machine. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off and ensuring that SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support is checked.
    7. Check the Event Viewer on the Windows 10 Pro machine for any error messages related to file sharing or network access. This can provide more insight into what might be going wrong.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
