Are you planning on supporting setting a custom domain name for an Azure Managed Grafana instance instead of using the default *.grafana.azure.com one in the future? We would like to use our own domain/subdomain for this if possible.

Not yet. This is still a backlog feature and it hasn’t been scheduled for development at this point. We’ll update this thread when there is a status change.
This is on our roadmap. That said, there is no immediate plan to support it yet. Allowing custom domains requires proper handling of user certificates and it's nontrivial. We suggest that you set up a URL redirect, if possible, as a workaround for now.

URL redirect won't work for links generated by Grafana. From the grafana documentation on setting a custom domain name "When running Grafana behind a proxy, you need to configure the domain name to let Grafana know how to render links and redirects correctly."
