I wanted to install microsoft visual c++,when i download the microsoft visual c++ installer is stuck at initializing and then after 3-2 minutes it says setup failed. Screenshot_77

I am having the same problem. Trying to install this on my HP Elitebook 1030 g2. Checked lots of forums but didn't find any answers. I'm sure you can help me.

Hi @Favour Okoh ,

If you try to run the setup file as administrator, will it work? Sometimes this error is caused by permission limitation. Do you have full permissions on your machine(you may check the antivirus, group policy, proxy, and if necessary, communicate with your administrator)?

Yes, I have full administrator rights and have run with administrator privileges, Yet it still didn't work.

I aslo did this

"Please try to run CMD as administrator, run following command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, make sure that no error appears. After that, run sfc /scannow command."

But still didn't work. What can be the solution to this?

Hello, So after much diagnosis. I found out my Windows installer was missing from my services.msc . So I added it and it worked.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please try to run the setup file of Visual C++ Redistributable package as administrator(right-click the setup file > run as administrator). Make sure that there’s no limitation on your machine, if the machine is from your organization, please try to communicate with your administrator/IT department to double confirm this.

If this doesn’t work, please download this troubleshooter tool, run it and click Uninstalling, if the Visual C++ Redistributable package is listed, then select to uninstall it. After that install it again.

Besides, please share us the detailed information which was recorded in the log file(mentioned in error message) for further check.

Please try to run CMD as administrator, run following command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, make sure that no error appears. After that, run sfc /scannow command.

Please also try to update Windows OS, and make sure that there are no Windows Update issues(Settings > Windows Update > Update history).

Did you run CMD as administrator?

If you have run CMD as administrator but the access still denied, I suggest check if you have full permissions on your machine, you may communicate with your administrator if necessary.

Hi @SUNKING 124 ,

The DISM tool helps to fix the corrupted or missing system files, after you run the commands, you can wait for it finishes scanning. Then try to use the troubleshooter tool to uninstall(Addtional Runtime/Minimum Runtime) and install the Visual C++ Redistributable package again.

The error may be related to system, I would suggest you also go to Settings(Windows) => Windows Update => update Windows OS and install all the patches. Make sure that there are no Windows Update errors.
