The documentation on this page https://zcusa.951200.xyz/en-us/training/modules/backup-restore-azure-sql/2-protect-database-with-backup focuses on Azure SQL Database backups. Does this information also apply to Azure Database for PostgreSQL? Specifically, I'm interested in knowing if PostgreSQL databases in Azure Single Server and Flexible Server also utilise full, differential, and transaction log backups to enable point-in-time restores.

@Sonal Patel Thank you for reaching out.

The information in this Learning Module applies only to Azure SQL Database. For Azure PostgreSQL flexible server, I would suggest reviewing this doc https://zcusa.951200.xyz/en-us/azure/postgresql/flexible-server/concepts-backup-restore. Please note that Azure PostgreSQL single server is in retirement phase, we are strongly encouraging customers to migrate to Flexible server.

Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server does not support traditional full and differential backups. Instead, it uses snapshot backups and transaction log backups to enable point-in-time restores. For more information on back up for Azure PostgreSQL, please review the doc I shared above.
