How to get out of Microsoft Authenticator loop

I too am in the Microsoft authenticator loop from hell. When I try to add my work account to authenticator, it asks for a code from the authenticator app that I'm already in. When I try to log into admin.microsoft.com, it asks for a code from authenticator. When I log in to change 2FA, it asks for a code from the app when I click Security.

I am a sole practitioner and this laptop is the only one I work with. I can only assume I have not set myself up with administrative rights. I am the only user. I've spent hours researching this issue and have done all I can up to this point. Any suggestions/recommendations? Can Microsoft get into my account and make the changes needed to fix this problem? Many thanks for any and all guidance provided!
