MSDN article "Architecture Strategies for Catching the Long Tail"

It is a bit off topic for Access developers but I found this article a great read. I especially liked the discussion about long tail apps and plan to blog more on the topic in the future.

Summary: This provides an overview of the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model for software delivery, provides a high-level description of the architecture of a SaaS application, and discusses the challenges and benefits of developing and offering SaaS. (26 printed pages)

"each customer uses metadata to configure the way the application appears and behaves for its users." Would an Access front-end fall in this definition?
