Windows Movie Maker 2.6

My old team has just released Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista. If you're running Vista on a machine that doesn't have a video card that is capable of running the new GPU pipeline that MovieMaker uses on Vista, then all is not lost. You can now install Windows Movie Maker 2.6 and you'll be able to run a version of MovieMaker that doesn't use the GPU for the video effects.

I have never gotten WMM to work.  I simply opens with a dialog - "Unspecified Error".  This happens always.  Don't have to run anything prior to corrupt memory etc. Vista Ultimate. WOW my computer does less than it did before.

Sometimes MovieMaker gives that error if the collection file gets corrupted. Have a look in this directory C:Users<user name>AppDataLocalMicrosoftMovie Maker to see if you have a file like MEDIATAB0.DAT (or MEDIATAB1.DAT). If you see it rename it something like MEDIATAB.OLD and then try restarting MovieMaker.

Thanks for the response but it still just gives that dialog.  No go.  If was a MEDIATAB1.DAT file if that means anything. LS

I've just used WMM at the first time, but it works perfectly.
