Announcing support for SQL Server 2012 SP3 with AX 2012 R2 & R3

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Cumulative Update 10 and AX 2012 R2 Cumulative Update 9 are now compatible with SQL Server 2012 SP3.

The Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 System Requirements have been updated to reflect this change.

    Is AX 2012 R2 CU9 kernel enough or are application updates needed as well?

    No, just patching the KERNEL is not enough. You need to run the APPLICATION at the build specified.

      One more question: We have AX 2012 R2 CU7 .... We currently have SQL2012 SP2 CU3 applied. If we apply SQL2012 SP3 to our AX2012 R2 CU7 environment, will we be violating the System Requirements.Your document says to apply the latest SQL CU to whatever SQL version we are running. When you say "version" are you referring to the formal "SQL Major Version" (I know it can't be just the SQL Minor Version because that changes with CU.)...Or do when you say Version, you mean SQL Version+SP?The reason I ask is because it seems like we could apply SQL2012 SP3 to our AX 2012 R2 CU7 setup as simply a better SQL2012 version than SQL2012 SP2 CU3?Thanks
