dotProfiler by JetBrains

The good people over at JetBrains has released a profiling tool called dotProfiler.  While I have not had a chance to use the tool myself, I do currently use the ReSharper product for VS2003 and I have to admit there are several features I really like about resharper and several things I turn off right away.  All in all JetBrains seems to make some quality tools, so I am going to give this one a try.  I have used NuMega DevPartner, and Red Gate ANTS profiler in the past and they are also quality tools.  I will give dotProfiler a spin and let you know what I think.

Happy coding..

Ed

Just a question I have after reading your post. What features do you turn off within reSharper and if it's not obvious (In your opinion) WHY?

    To: scarrol,

I am in the field supporting customers supporting legacy VB6 apps and building new VS2003 apps. It is very tough to get insurance companies to use our tools before they are RTM. When VS2005 gets adopted here at the customer I am going to be all over it!

    Thanks,

I do not like the ReSharper Intellisense (it show to much information at once). Most of the time the VStudio intellisense is preferred and gives me the overload I am looking for.

I also do not like the color highlighting of braces. Combined with the outlining features it starts to make the screen too busy, the interface here is not very clean.

I use Visual Studio icons instead of Resharper icons. No need in having me learn new icons this does not add value IMO.

Most are personal preferences and not show stoppers.

    HTH,
