December happenings

We have a new PM on our team - Jim Nakashima - he’s got lots of interesting things to say: his older blog was here, and his new blog is here

The Cider team has published its very first CTP – congrats to Brian, Chuck, Chad, Jim, Subhag et al. For an intro on the Cider designer - check out MSDN TV and Channel 9.

Finally, I’m changing gears a bit. The only fundamental constant in life is change, and that’s especially true when starting up a new product cycle at Microsoft. Starting in January, I’ll be working on the Cider team helping to build designers for WPF (“Avalon”).

What does this mean for “jfo’s coding”? That’s a good question. I’ve not moved very far from the Windows Forms team, and I’m sure it’s going to be a while before I can usefully post stuff on either Cider or Avalon. So in the short run, you may not even notice.

I’ll try to be good about splitting up my posts. If you’re interested in Windows Forms only, then you can just subscribe to this feed. If you’re interested in Cider, happily subscribe to this one. And if you don’t care, then by all means continue to use the main feed for this site.

It would be awesome if you could post your experiences in learning to become an Avalon coder. A sort of from-the-trenches introduction to how to write apps for Avalon. Give us the benefit of your learning curve!
