Latest Update - Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) v6.0 is now available.

SSMA simplifies database migration process from Oracle/Sybase/MySQL and Microsoft Access to SQL Server and SQL Azure. SSMA automates all aspects of migration including migration assessment analysis, schema and SQL statement conversion, data migration as well as migration testing to reduce cost and reduce risk of your database migration project. 

 

The new version of  SSMA, Version  6.0 provides the following major enhancements:

 

  • Materialized View support for Oracle

  • Memory Optimized tables for Oracle

  • Improved Azure SQL DB code conversion

  • Extension pack functionality moved to schema to support Azure SQL DB

  • Performance improvements tested for databases with over 10k objects

  • UI improvements for dealing with large number of objects

  • Highlighting of “well known” LOB schemas (so they can be ignored in conversion)

  • Conversion speed improvements

  • Show object counts in UI

  • Report size reduction by more than 25%

  • Improved error messages for unparsed constructs.

    I was stuck at a problem using access migration in the older version. version six resolved my issue. Must use for more movement of data.

    Oracle to SQL Server Migration ==> I just updated to version 6 but now I always gets error getting data.. and when I use the older version of SSMA I am able to connect to oracle correctly and it gets the data. can you help me what could be the issue ?

    Are there any installation instructions for 'SSMA for Oracle Extension Pack v6' on SQL Server clustered database? Installation of Oracle ExtPack v6 on a standalone SQL Server is straight forward but not sure about the proper way to install it on the clustered environment. Thank!

    Harsh, I'm seeing exactly  the same issue. New project, connect to the Oracle DB and get the 'error getting data' message. Did you figure out a way around this?

    While connecting to db2 for LUV, I am getting this: Db2 server version lower 10. This version is not supported with the selected connection mode. Review the documentation for connecting to Db2.

    There is definitly a bug in the maping between Oracle and SQL Server Tables. When using Version 5.3 it works fine, with 6.0 the Migration process does not find a mapping on the SQL Server side.

    Is there a "Guide to Migrating from Sybase to SQL Server 2014" for SSMA 6.0?  The one that is similar to those published for migration to SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012.  I cannot find one.

    The Extension Pack install failed.  I try to remove it and that fails.  If I try to run the script installer, it fails.  No real helpful information in any of the screens.  No logs that I have been able to find. v6.  On Windows 2012 R2 with SQL 2012 R2 Thanks for any pointers

    My problem is Data Types, types looks like varbınary, ınt, numerıc etc... and when i try to migrate data i get this error 'Cannot find data type varbınary' . Are there any option for datatypes   ?

    Hi ,can anybody tell me how to migrate from oracle 11 g with dataset  'AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8'  in which the chinese words change to '?' after being migrated.

    the GUI, object loading, reporting, etc. are all incredibly slow. Is there documentation/best practice for performance improvements for this application? we have a mid to large Oracle database.

    Hi,I am migrating data from Oracle database to SQL SERVER using SSMA v6.0 for Oracle. I am getting some connection issue while migrating data. The source table having 101376965 rows but after some time around 1hr 24mins it is failing with below error. I have changed Data Migration Timeout from 15 to 1000 but still it was not working. Could you please help me to fix the issue.Error:ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available Connection.
