Prebuilt social and governance metrics
Important
Some or all of this functionality is available as part of a preview release. The content and the functionality are subject to change.
The prerequisite for computing social and governance metrics is to ensure that standardized data is present in the ProcessedESGData lakehouse in the current Fabric workspace. This lakehouse is created when the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data estate capability is deployed. To learn more about the standardized ESG data schema and data ingestion techniques for the ProcessedESGData lakehouse, see ESG data estate documentation. Run the GenerateSocialAndGovernanceTables notebook to create the empty tables for the social and governance topics in the ProcessedESGData.
To get started with demo data, run the LoadDemoDataInProcessedESGDataTables notebook that is deployed as a part of the ESG data estate capability and installs demo data in the ProcessedESGData lakehouse of the current Fabric workspace. To learn more about how to set up demo data, go to Set up demo data.
To compute the prebuilt social and governance metrics from the data in the ProcessedESGData lakehouse, run the SDS_SGDE_GenerateSocialAndGovernanceMetrics notebook. The computed social and governance metrics are stored as tables in the ComputedESGMetrics lakehouse. This table lists the metrics generated and their descriptions.

In the GenerateSocialAndGovernanceMetrics notebook, you can choose which metric to be calculated by changing the values in the parameter named REPORTS_TO_GENERATE in the notebook. The parameters are located together in the section of the notebook titled Parameters.
After the metrics are computed and stored as tables, you can use the prebuilt Power BI dashboard for analyzing the metrics.
Open the SocialAndGovernanceMetricsReportDataset semantic model from your workspace.
On the top left, select File, and then select Settings. In the Data source credentials section, select Edit credentials.
Provide your Fabric credentials in the dialog box for authenticating the ComputedESGMetrics lakehouse data source. Select the following values:
- Authentication method: OAuth2
- Privacy level setting for this data source: Organizational
Select Sign in.
After you sign in successfully, go back to the semantic model home page and select Refresh now from the Refresh menu option. After the refresh completes, the dataset is refreshed with data from the ComputedESGMetrics lakehouse.
If there are any errors in the refresh, you can find the error details by viewing the Refresh history option on the Refresh menu.
Now open the SocialAndGovernanceMetricsReport from the capability detail page or from your workspace. The report with specific social metrics appears.
Note
Metrics data only appears if the data exists in the ComputedESGMetrics lakehouse. Currently, the prebuilt Power BI report only supports social metrics for Workforce training and development.
