Preview feature

Power BI service

Users are unable to see the (new) Card visual in Power BI service because it's currently a preview feature exclusive to Power BI Desktop.

The (new) Card visual is in the Preview phase and is only available within the Power BI Desktop environment. This limitation is a common practice for features that are still under development, allowing users to test and provide feedback before a broader release. Although the (new) Card visual isn't directly available in the Power BI service, any (new) Card visuals created in Power BI Desktop can be published, making them visible in the Power BI service. This capability allows users to take advantage of the new features while ensuring compatibility and stability within the Service environment.

Format settings

When you're formatting a (new) Card visual, you might notice that some of the format settings are in a different location, or the name of the setting is changed. They're subject to modifications that enhance functionality and user experience. It's the responsibility of report creators to stay informed about these changes when using Preview features. Keeping abreast of product updates ensure the effective use of these features in your reports.

Capabilities

Alerts

The (new) Card visual currently lacks the functionality to set alerts for specific cards. Due to the (new) Card visual’s ability to contain multiple callout tiles within a single container, implementing alerts presented a development challenge. The development team is actively seeking a solution to integrate this feature effectively. No workaround is currently available for setting alerts on the (new) Card visual. The only alternative is to use the existing card visual, which supports alert functionality.
