Deploy Dialog Box (Explorer)
Deploys a Web project to one or more Web servers. You can use this dialog box to deploy not only Web projects but also information that you want to publish to a public server, for example, a set of product specification documents or test reports.
Note
Because deploying a Web project makes it public, you must have the Destroy project right to use the Deploy command.
Dialog Box Access
In Visual SourceSafe Explorer, on the Web menu, click Deploy.
Note
You can specify whether this dialog box is displayed by using the Command Dialogs tab in the SourceSafe Options dialog box.
- Browse
Navigates to the directory to which Visual SourceSafe will deploy the Web project.
- Make writable
Makes the files in the Web project writable. This is not the default behavior, but it can be useful if you want to try a temporary change to a file or want to rename a file after deploying it.
- Only show this dialog when the Shift key is down
Specifies that this dialog box is not displayed unless you are holding down the SHIFT key when you select the Deploy command.
- To
Specifies the directory to which the Web project will be deployed. You can also use the Browse button to locate the directory.
Remarks
Before you can deploy a Web project, your database administrator must set a deployment path as a comma-delimited set of locations to which you want your files copied.
Deploying a Web project overwrites existing files with the same name in the deployment directory, even if you have set Replace writable files to Skip in the SourceSafe Options dialog box, Local Files tab.
