Provisioning a Standard Security Configuration

You can use Security Configuration Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile to provision standard security configurations to Windows Mobile powered devices. You can also use Security Configuration Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile to provision saved security configurations to emulated devices—but not to physical devices. For more information, see Saving a Device's Security Configuration.

Note

You cannot provision a Locked device. If you try, Security Configuration Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile generates the following error dialog box:

To provision a standard security configuration onto a device

  1. Connect the mobile device that you want to provision, to your work station.

  2. Allow ActiveSync to establish a logical connection to the device. When the logical connection has been successfully established, Security Configuration Manager Powertoy for Windows Mobile displays the name of the device in the Status Bar.

  3. Expand Selected Configuration, and then click the standard security configuration you want.

  4. Click Provision. Check the mobile device to see if it is prompting you with further instructions. If so, then tap Yes to proceed.

    Progress details appear in the Status Bar. When the process completes, the Provisioning Results dialog box appears.

Note

To ensure proper operation of the new security configuration on the mobile device, reset the device after you provision it.
