How to Deploy the Gateway Server Using MOMGateway.msi in Operations Manager 2007
The gateway server is installed on the target computer using the MOMGateway.msi file. The MOMGateway.msi file is located on the Operations Manager 2007 installation media in the gateway\i386 (or amd64) folder. For more information about the gateway server, see About Gateway Server in Operations Manager 2007.
Note
Note: You cannot install the gateway server on a server that hosts any other Operations Manager role, excluding an agent.
To deploy the gateway server using MOMGateway.msi
On the Operations Manager 2007 installation media, open the \gateway\i386 folder, and then double-click the MOMGateway.msi file.
On the Welcome to the System Center Operations Manager Gateway Setup wizard page, click Next.
On the Destination Folder page, click Next to accept the default location or click Change to specify the location of Operations Manager, and then click Next.
On the Management Group Configuration page, do the following.
- Under Management Group Name, type the name of the management group.
- Under Management Server, type the computer name of the Management Server or Root Management Server.
- Under Management Server Port, type the port number if necessary.
- Click Next.
On the Gateway Action Account page, do one of the following.
Select Local System, and then click Next.
Select Domain or local computer, type the user account and password, and then click Next.
Note
It is a best practice to use a low-privilege account. On computers running Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista, the account must have the following minimum privileges: member of the local Users group, member of the local Performance Monitor Users group, and have the Allow Log On Locally policy setting enabled.
On the Ready to Install page, review the installation settings, and then click Install.
On the Completing the System Center Operations Manager Gateway Setup wizard page, click Finish.
Note
After the gateway server is installed, you will need to run the Gateway Approval tool on the Management Server that the gateway will connect to. For more information, see How to Deploy the Gateway Approval Tool in Operations Manager 2007 and then How to Use the Gateway Approval Tool in Operations Manager 2007.
