Server ActiveSync and Internet Explorer Mobile implement secure sockets layer (SSL) to help secure data transmission when you connect to a server to synchronize Microsoft Exchange data, configure a device, or download applications. The SSL connection may fail for Server ActiveSync or the Internet browser for one of the following reasons:

  • The root certificate store does not contain a matching root certificate for the server certificate that the device receives to authenticate the server. You can add a matching root certificate to the store to correct the problem.
  • Date and time on the device are incorrect. You can change the date and time by using the system settings on the device.
  • The server certificate does not match the URL of the server. In this case, the connection between the device and the server will fail. You may need to reconfigure Exchange ActiveSync on the server.
