Enabling Multiple APN Support

4/8/2010

A Windows Mobile device can be configured to simultaneously connect to multiple APNs on a GPRS network

To enable multiple APN support you must configure the following settings in the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cellular\Ril] registry key:

Value: Type Description

Packet: DWORD

Specifies the GPRS connection mode. Set to 0 for RAS GPRS (this is the default setting). Set to 1 for NDIS GPRS.

Contexts: DWORD

Specifies the number of contexts. To enable multiple APN support it must be set to a value greater than 1.

Note

These settings are intended to be configured by the OEM. The number of contexts cannot be changed dynamically. The device must be rebooted before a new value will take effect. If the device is configured for multiple contexts and is on a network that does not support multiple APNs then device behavior is undefined.
