BUTTON XHTML Element

This defines a container that creates a button using the rich HTML between the tags. This is an inline element and requires a closing tag.

Using this Element

This element can be used within a web page with attributes.

This element can be used within scripts where it will have properties, events and methods.

Attributes

The following table shows items that Internet Explorer Mobile supports.

Associates the element with a CSS style.

DISABLED

 

Indicates that this element is disabled and unavailable.

ID

 

Uniquely identifies the element within a document.

STYLE

 

Provides the definition of the CSS styles used for this element.

TYPE

 

Declares the type of the button.

 

button

Creates a simple push button with no pre-defined behavior.

 

reset

Creates a reset button.

 

submit

Creates a submit button. This is the default value for this attribute..

VALUE

String

Specifies the button control text value. This text sent to the server when the button's click event occurs.

Event Comment

onblur

Occurs when an element loses focus either by the pointing device or by keypad navigation.

onclick

This event fires when the user selects the button element. Note the event only fires if the user does a pen down while on the button and a pen up over the same button. You can specify special handler for this event.

onfocus

Occurs when an element receives focus either by the pointing device or by keypad navigation.

  • Causes the onblur event to fire.

Syntax:

button.click()

  • Simulates clicking the button causing the onclick event to fire.

focus

 

Syntax:

button.focus()

  • Sets focus to the button.

getAttribute

option

Syntax:

vAttrValue=button.getAttribute(sAttrName[,iFlags])

  • Returns the value of the specified attribute. If the attribute is not present then a NULL is returned.
    sAttrName is a String containing the name of the attribute.
    iFlags is an integer that specifies one or more of the following:
    0 (Default) Performs a property search that is not case-sensitive, and returns an interpolated value if the property is found.
    1 Performs a case-sensitive property search. To find a match, the uppercase and lowercase letters in sAttrName must exactly match those in the attribute name.
    2 Returns the value exactly as it was set in script or in the source document.
