Differences between Dialog Box (Explorer and Plug-in)

Displays the differences between two files or two versions of a single file. The display depends on the format you select in the Difference Options dialog box:

• For the visual format, the Differences between dialog box displays the files side by side, and uses three text colors to show deleted, changed, and inserted lines. For the visual format, you can change the difference viewer colors by setting the options in the SourceSafe Options dialog box, Difference tab.

• For the SourceSafe format, the Differences between dialog box shows a simple text display of lines added, deleted, and changed.

• For the Unix format, the Differences between dialog box displays only the changed lines and uses text arrows to distinguish between additions and deletions.

Dialog Box Access

In Visual SourceSafe Explorer or a SourceSafe plug-in, access the Difference Options dialog box. Set the difference format as desired, then click OK.

UI Element List

• Clear All Bookmarks
  Clears all bookmarks in a file.

• Find
  Displays the Find dialog box so that you can search for a character string in one of the displayed files.

• Find Next
  Finds the next occurrence of character string specified in the Find dialog box.

• Find Previous
  Finds the previous occurrence of the character string specified in the Find dialog box.

• Next Bookmark
  Moves the cursor to the next line in the file that has a bookmark.

• Next Difference
  Moves the cursor to the next difference in the file.

• Previous Bookmark
  Moves the cursor to the previous line in the file that has a bookmark.

• Previous Difference
  Moves the cursor to the previous difference in the file.

• Toggle Bookmark
  Turns on or off bookmarks for a line in a file.
