This topic provides steps for installing Commerce Server 2007 and Commerce Server 2009 on the business management server.

Note

You must have administrator permissions on the computer where you install Commerce Server. Log on to the operating system under a user account that has local administrator permissions.

To install Commerce Server 2007 by using the Installation Wizard

  1. Insert the Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 CD into the appropriate drive.

  2. Double-click Setup.exe at the root of the CD setup image, and then follow the online prompts.

    Note

Setup includes a pre-installation check that identifies unsupported configurations on your installation computer and specifies the software that is required.

  4. On the Customer Information page, type your customer name and organization, and then click Next.

  5. On the License Agreement page, read the terms of the license agreement. If you accept them, select Yes. I accept the terms of the license agreement, and then click Next.

  6. On the Component Installation page, accept the default installation location or click Browse to move to the location where you want to install Commerce Server 2007, and then click Next to install the default set of Commerce Server 2007 components.

Or, you can change the default set of installed components by changing the selection for the following components for Commerce Server 2007:

    • Commerce Server 2007. Installs the core Commerce Server components. These include the Catalog System, Marketing System, Orders System, Profiles System, Commerce Server Manager, Commerce Server client tools, and product documentation, which includes user interface (F1) help and the software development kit (SDK).

    • Direct Mailer. Installs the Commerce Server Direct Mailer service and components. Select Direct Mailer if the business management server will be a Direct Mail server.

    • Staging. Installs the Commerce Server Staging (CSS) components. These include the deployment engine and the CSS service. You can use CSS to stage your Web site content and business data from one environment to another, such as from a test environment to the production environment. Select Staging if you will use the staging service.

      Note

Based on the components that you are installing, if any prerequisite software is missing, the Redistributable Prerequisites page appears. To install the prerequisite software, select the appropriate option, and then click Next. For links to the CAB files, see F1 Help.

  7. On the Summary page, verify that the components that you want to install are correct.

    Note

Commerce Server may require a system restart. Click Set to set your auto-logon credentials.

  8. Click Install. The Installation Progress page appears that states that the Setup program is installing the selected program features.

  9. On the Installation Completed page, click Logfile to review the list of events for the installation, and then click Finish.

To install Commerce Server 2009 on the business management server by using the Installation Wizard

  1. Log on to the server under a user account that has local administrator permissions.

  2. To begin the installation, do one of the following:

    • If you are accessing the software image on a local or remote hard drive, go to the appropriate location, open the Setup folder and double-click the Setup.exe file.

    Note

If you begin the installation and you have Commerce Server 2009 already installed on the server, the setup program displays a message stating that you must uninstall the existing version. Click Cancel to exit the installation.

    Note

The installation detects the edition of Commerce Server 2007 you have currently installed on the server and will only list and install the components that are relevant to the edition you have. Consequently, the list of components shown may differ slightly from the one shown in the above illustration.

  5. On the Microsoft SoftwareLicense Terms page, read the license agreement, select I have read and accept the license terms, and then click Next.

Setup installs the components; a progress report is shown.
