What are the Network Deployment Requirements?
For the latest version of Commerce Server 2007 Help, see the Microsoft Web site.
This section lists the requirements that you must have to support the network in Commerce Server deployments. It contains information about the network hardware that you must have to connect each server in your deployment. Use this information as a guideline to comply with any existing standards and practices for the network operations in your organization. The actual hardware requirements might vary depending on your specific environment.
For the network in any one of the prescribed deployment architectures, the following hardware products are required:
Two 16-port switches or hubs of 100Mbit (four in the enterprise deployment)
Two 4-port switches or hubs of 100Mbit minimum
Five x86-based (or x64-based) servers (23 in the enterprise deployment)
One external SCSI hard disk array (certified to support dual hosts/clustering)
Two SCSI hard disks
Two SCSI to SCSI host cables to connect the external hard disk array
One external, static IP address together with the associated domain name
Six network cables (33 cables in the enterprise deployment)
In an enterprise deployment, you also need two shared storage drives with four 9.0 GB SCSI hard disks configured as a single 25.0 GB RAID1 or RAID10 logical drive (do not use RAID0 or RAID5 logical drives).
You should consider using a Storage Area Network (SAN) device to enhance the security and performance of file retrieval.
