How to: Resolve Synchronization Conflicts Manually

One of the main advantages of the Outlook Microsoft Dynamics NAV Synchronization feature is the ability to resolve synchronization conflicts for items in Outlook and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

The options for resolving conflicts must be set up before you start the synchronization. Otherwise, you will have to decide how to resolve the conflict manually.

When the synchronization process is finished, the color of the Troubleshooting button on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Synchronization toolbar changes, depending on the result of the synchronization. There are three synchronization statuses:

  • Green: Successful synchronization.

  • Red: Conflicts have occurred during synchronization.

  • Red: Errors have occurred during synchronization.

To resolve a synchronization conflict

  1. In Outlook, on the Add-ins tab, on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Synchronization toolbar, choose the Troubleshooting button. The Troubleshooting window opens.

  2. On the Conflicts tab, select the conflict that you want to resolve.

  3. Choose how you want to resolve the conflict. If you want to override the changes in Microsoft Dynamics NAV with Outlook data, choose Replace All Outlook Items. If you want to override the changes in Outlook with Microsoft Dynamics NAV data, choose Replace All Microsoft Dynamics NAV Records. If you want to delete conflict entries, choose Delete All.

When you resolve the conflict, the entry is removed from the conflict list.

Note

The Troubleshooting window can contain not only synchronization conflicts, but also synchronization errors. If you resolve all conflicts and errors remain in this window, see the technical documentation or contact your system administrator to correct these errors.
