Using a Custom Filter
A custom filter is a set of warnings that you select. The filter determines which warnings in a Defect Log are displayed and which are hidden. You can apply a custom filter to a Defect Log just as you would with a preset filter.
PREfast for Drivers lets you save one custom filter at a time. When you create a new custom filter, PREfast for Drivers overwrites any existing custom filters.
To create a custom filter:
In a build environment window, navigate to the directory in which you ran a PREfast for Drivers analysis.
Use a PREfast View command to open a Defect Log.
Click Filter.
To create a custom filter based on a preset filter, from the Presets box, select the preset filter.
Select and clear the check boxes for one or more warnings. Selected warnings appear in the defect log when the filter is applied. Cleared warnings are hidden in the defect log when the filter is applied.
PREfast for Drivers changes the entry in the Presets box to (custom) and begins saving your changes. You can continue selecting or clearing check boxes, if desired.
To apply the custom filter, click Apply or OK.
Selecting the custom filter
If you use a different filter, you can restore the custom filter by selecting (custom) from the Presets box.
The following screen shot shows a custom filter that is based on the drivers_only filter, but includes Warning 28110.
