Chord Names
The name of a chord in Chordmap Designer is in the form 2CM, where each element indicates one of the following properties of the chord, from left to right:
- Its octave placement on the piano keyboard. The number 2 is the equivalent of the octave beginning at middle C and continuing upward through B. For more information, see Pitch Names and MIDI Numbers.
- Its root; in this case, C.
- Its chord quality; in this case, M for major.
