Real-Time Display

Windows Media Encoder SDK banner art

In the timeline, you can display the time in seconds. The time at a given beat or measure varies according to the tempo and time signature. For example, the following illustration shows the elapsed seconds if the tempo is 120 beats per minute (bpm) using a 4/4 time signature.

Real-time display by measure

Each four-beat measure takes two seconds to complete. Changing to a different tempo alters the number of seconds required for each measure.

Three formats are available for the display of clock time. To select one, right-click on the timeline and click Realtime Display on the shortcut menu.

  • Seconds

The time is shown where each whole second falls.

  • Measures

The time, measured to the nearest hundredth of a second, is shown at the beginning of each measure.

  • Beats

The time is shown at each beat.
