Region Properties
The Properties Window for a region in a DLS instrument has two tabs:
- Region
- Sample/Playback
The Region tab is shown in the following figure.
For each setting, select the check box to override the default value.
The Region tab has the settings shown in the following table.
Setting | Description |
Phrase Group ID | Group number for waves that play with samples synchronized. |
Master | All waves within the same group are synchronized to the wave that has this check box selected. |
Multichannel | Select this check box if the wave is a stereo wave or part of a multichannel setup. If it is a stereo wave, Stereo is the only choice in the drop-down list. Otherwise, select a channel for the wave. Because the Microsoft Synthesizer does not support multichannel output, selecting anything other than Left (or Mono) or Right for a mono wave causes the region to play silently. |
Attenuation | Volume of the wave, expressed as attenuation in decibels. |
Fine Tune | Adjustment of the pitch of the wave, in semitones. When the root note is played, the original pitch of the wave is modified by this value. |
Root Note | Note at which the wave is played at its original pitch, if the Fine Tune value is 0. This value can also be set in the DLS Designer Window. See Region Settings for more information. |
Note To restore the default settings for Attenuation or Fine Tune, click on the slider while pressing CTRL.
The Sample/Playback tab has the settings shown in the following figure.
Select the Override Wave Settings check box to apply the other settings on the tab to this instance of the wave. Deselect to reapply the default settings of the wave.
For information on the other settings, see Wave Component Properties.
