Sharing Buffers

Windows Media Encoder SDK banner art

To conserve resources when your files are played, you can reuse buffers in different mix groups and even in different audiopaths. Any mix groups or audiopaths that require the same capabilities can share a buffer.

At run time, an application can create multiple instances of any audiopath configuration. By default, a copy is made of each buffer in each instance. However, if the Share buffer with other audiopaths option is selected in the Buffer Properties, the buffer is created only once and shared by all instances.
