Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:
You have read the topic Manage authorization for the Business Data Catalog.
Your system is running either the Standard or Enterprise version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
Important
Administrators must have View Only permission to the Shared Services Provider (SSP) administration site, and must have the Set Permissions permission enabled.
Add or remove permission to a business data entity
Use the following procedure to add or remove permission to a business data entity.
Add or remove permission to a business data entity
On the Shared Services Administration home page, in the Business Data Catalog section, click View entities.
On the Business Data Catalog Entities page, click the name of the entity.
On the View Entity: Entity Name page, in the Entity Information section, click Manage Permissions.
On the Manage Permissions: Entity Name page, click Add Users/Groups.
Note
If a user or group is already in the list on this page, select the check box for that user or group, and then click Modify Permissions of Selected Users. You can also click the user or group name in the list, or select check boxes for two or more users or groups to modify permissions for multiple users or groups.
On the Add Users/Groups: Entity Name page, in the Choose Users section, type the name of the users and groups that you want to add in the form domain\user.
Note
On the Modify Permissions: Entity Name page, the user or group is already selected.
In the Choose Permissions section, select the permissions that you want for the added users and groups, as follows:
To enable administrators to view and edit properties for this business data entity, select Edit. Users who have this permission can use the View Entity: Entity Name page to view fields associated with this entity, view relationships with other entities, view filters associated with this entity, and manage business data actions (including the business data profile) for the entity.
To enable developers to execute method instances this entity, select Execute. To execute method instances for an entity, an account must have the Execute permission required for the Business Data Catalog, the application containing the entity, and the business data entity..
To enable information workers to select business data from this application in SharePoint list columns, Web Parts, and other Web clients, select Select in Clients.
To enable Business Data Catalog administrators to manage permissions for this entity, select Set Permissions.
To remove a permission, clear the associated check box.
Click Save.
