Install Service Pack 2 for Windows SharePoint Services 2.0
Applies To: Windows SharePoint Services 3.0
Topic Last Modified: 2007-12-13
If you have not already applied Service Pack 2 (SP2) to your environment, you must do so before upgrading.
Note
It is advised that you perform a full backup of your Windows SharePoint Services environment prior to applying a service pack.
To install Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services SP2, do one of the following:
Use Microsoft Windows Update (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=15270&clcid=0x409) to update your Web server computer (recommended). Windows Update scans your computer and provides you with a tailored selection of updates that apply only to the items on your computer.
Download Windows SharePoint Services SP2 from the Microsoft Download Center Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=71862), and then run the service pack executable on a server computer that is running the original version of Windows SharePoint Services.
Note
If you are running a server farm configuration, you must install the service pack to each front-end Web server computer. For more information, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB 875358: You must update all the Web servers in a Web farm that is running Windows SharePoint Services (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=39585&clcid=0x409).
