The Recovery tab permits the administrator to perform full replication for those user profiles failed in full replication. You can also use this tab to perform a full replication for a list of specified users, rather than performing a full replication on all users.

You must have the Manage user profiles permission on the Shared Services Provider (SSP) of the source and destination servers to run the recovery replication operation.

The elements of this tab are described as follows.

  • Source Server
Auto-populated by the value of the Source URL field on the Configuration tab.
  • Destination Server
Auto-populated from the Destination URL(s) list on the Configuration tab; the first entry in the Destination URL(s) list is the default. Data can only be replicated to one destination at a time when performing full replication; therefore, you must manually change the destination URL if replicating to multiple destinations.
  • File
Displays the file to be loaded as the account list to replicate. The *.rcv file produced as a result of the full replication process is the default file, for example, “%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft\Replication Engine\log\Err_Full_AccountName_7654321.rcv”. This file contains the user accounts that failed to successfully replicate. One line is created for each user in the format of <domain>\<username>. Alternatively, click Browse to specify a text (.txt) file that has the list of account names representing the profiles you want to replicate. The file should contain a list of account names delimited by carriage returns.
  • Status
Displays a scrollable list of successfully replicated user profiles, identified by account names.
  • Start/Stop
Starts or stops a recovery replication.

Remarks

When an account is replicated, it will be listed in Status field, regardless if it has replicated successfully or not.

If there are errors during the recovery replication, failed accounts are recorded into a new recovery (.rcv) file. You can then rerun the recovery operation on just those accounts. If a profile fails replicate more than twice, you may need to investigate possible corruption of the profile.
