You use the Business Data Catalog trace log to view business data events and when failures occur, to help identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.

Before you perform this task, confirm that:

Use this procedure to view business data events in the Business Data Catalog trace log.

View business data events in the Business Data Catalog trace log

  1. On the server running Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, navigate to the <drive>\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS folder.

  2. Open the file with the extension .log for the date/time period you want to review.

  3. Locate the record for the date/time you want to review where the Area field displays the value Business Data.

  4. Review the text in the Message field. If you are tracking an error, take action as needed to resolve the issue.

  5. Close the trace log file when finished.

Note

System administrators can create a script to parse the trace log, using a scripting language of their choice.
