You use the Windows Event Log to view business data events and when failures occur, to help identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
Before you perform this task, confirm that:
You have read the topic Audit diagnostic logs for business data.
Your system is running the Enterprise version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
You have applied the following update:
- 2007 Microsoft Office Servers Service Pack 1 (SP1) (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=105636&clcid=0x409)
To view business data events in the Windows Event Log
Use this procedure to view business data events in the Windows Event Log.
View business data events in the Windows Event Log
On the server running Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, click Start, click All Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click Event Viewer.
In the Event Viewer, click Application, and then locate the record for the date/time you want to review where the Source field displays the value Office SharePoint Server.
Right-click the record, and then click Properties.
Read the text in the Description field. If you are tracking an error, take action as needed to resolve the issue.
Click OK when finished.

You can use the Office SharePoint Server 2007 Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) to write rules that pick up the business data events and trigger MOM notifications and/or events.
