After you create a search scope, map the search property metadata, and index the properties of the user profiles, you update the scope to make the data available to users.
Before you perform this procedure, confirm that:
You have read the topic Create a search scope for people search (Office SharePoint Server 2007).
The system is running either the Standard or Enterprise version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

Important
Membership in the Viewers SharePoint group on the Shared Services Administration site is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Membership in the Farm Administrators SharePoint group is insufficient to perform this procedure.
To update a scope for people search
Use this procedure to update a scope for people search.
Update a scope for people search
On the Shared Services Administration Home page for the Shared Services Provider, in the Search section, click Search settings.
On the Configure Search Settings page, scroll down to the Scopes section, and then click Start update now. Start update now changes to Updating, and the Update Status option displays the completion progress of the scope.
Click the browser’s Refresh option periodically until Updating changes back to Start update now, which indicates that the scope is updated.
